Whether you are sending your parcel through an overnight next day service or via a same day delivery, you will want to make sure you package your goods well. Often goods are transported via van and no matter how safe and securely your goods are restrained in a vehicle, the right packaging can make a difference to how well your goods are protected.
How to package your goods
Locate a secure box – We suggest using a box that is not damaged or weakened by too many uses. Here at Speedy Logistics Ltd we encourage recycling but understand that a cardboard box only has so many lives. Make sure that the box you wish to package your goods is not water damaged as this could weaken the structure of the box. If you can’t close the box you’ve selected and don’t have any bigger boxes, consider using a second box to help you increase the size of your current box.
Protect your items – If you are transporting small fragile items, or several items in a box, you may wish to use bubble wrap or packing peanuts to protect your items. Movement whilst in transit, can occur and could damage your items if they are not protected efficiently. If you don’t have access to bubble wrap or alternative packaging accessories, consider using old newspapers or cardboard to bulk up the inside of the box to prevent your item from moving around.
Seal with care – Make sure that all openings of your box are secured with packaging tape. Deliveries can take place during terrible weather, so to prevent your goods from getting wet, you will want to make sure all possible points of entry are suitably secure. We advise the use of packaging tape over clear sticky tape as it stronger and more protective when goods are moved from A to B.
Secure sharp edges – If your items have sharp protruding edges, do your best to safely cover them. Sharp edges can damage other goods and even the courier delivering your items. If your has been placed in too small a box, this could cause parts of your goods to protrude from the box.
Attach Delivery details – If your goods are being delivered via our same day delivery service, it will remain with one driver and one vehicle. But at times there may be multiple items in a van. So to ensure your goods arrive safely at their destination it’s always best to write the delivery address onto the item if possible. If you make this a priority when you package your goods then you will be assisting the courier drivers in delivering your goods promptly.
